Altar of Filth is a doom, sludge, and stoner metal band rising from the fog‑choked coastline of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Their sound drags slow and heavy, built on down‑tuned riffs, suffocating atmosphere, and a raw vocal presence that cuts through the distortion like rusted steel. The band blends the bleak weight of traditional doom with the grit of sludge and the hypnotic pulse of stoner metal, creating a sound that feels both ancient and immediate.
Rooted in the East Coast's underground heavy scene, Altar of Filth channels themes of decay, isolation, maritime desolation, and the quiet violence of nature. Their music is less about spectacle and more about immersion — a slow‑burning descent into thick, oppressive tone and ritualistic rhythm.
